Shopify Increases Subscription Costs Across All Plans

Shopify, a popular e-commerce platform, recently announced a significant price increase for all of their plans, raising the cost of their Basic plan by 34%, from $29/month to $39/month. This means that sellers on a Basic plan will now have to pay an extra $120 per year, going from $348/year to $468/year. The regular Shopify plan is also seeing a 33% increase in fees, going from $79 to $105, and the Advanced plan will now cost $399, a 33% increase from its previous price of $299.

This sudden price hike has caused frustration among many of the platform’s users, with some taking to social media to express their disappointment.

“That’s a HUGE sudden increase,” one seller wrote on Twitter.

Many sellers feel that the increase will make it harder for their small businesses and entrepreneurs to afford selling online. Shopify has defended the decision by stating that the prices have remained largely unchanged for the past 12 years and that the increase is necessary to continue providing the “best” tools in e-commerce.

In light of Shopify’s recent price hike, many sellers may be searching for alternative e-commerce platforms that offer similar features at a more affordable cost. One such platform that is worth considering is Launch Cart.

Unlike Shopify, Launch Cart offers a freemium model, allowing users to start and run an online store for free, with the option to upgrade to a paid plan for additional features and support. With the free plan, users can still access a wide range of features such as live stream selling, drag-and-drop checkout and page builder, and several integrations with popular payment gateways.

Another advantage of using Launch Cart over Shopify is the platform’s advanced conversion technology tools. These features allow sellers to create funnels, long form sale pages, order bumps, upsells, long form sales pages and more to increase your average order value.

These features are not available on Shopify’s basic plans and can only be accessed by purchasing additional apps or upgrading to a more expensive plan. On Launch Cart, these features are available on every plan, and customers won’t be required to purchase additional apps as everything is natively built-in.

Shopify’s recent price increase has made it a less affordable option for small businesses and entrepreneurs, and alternative e-commerce platforms like Launch Cart, which offers a freemium model and similar features, may be a more accessible and affordable option for those looking to start and run an online store.
